AAYGC Welcome's Jake Harriman

Congratulations to Jake Harriman, founder of Nuru International.  He received the prestigious award (Heros Among Us) at the Red Cross Gala this month in San Francisco.

The Asian American Youth Giving Circle had the pleasure of meeting Jake Harriman and heard his story on how and why he started Nuru International. Every five seconds, a child dies from hunger-related causes. Half of the world's population live on less than $2 per day. What can we do? How can we help?

AAYGC members were moved and inspired by Harriman's vision and dedication to help eradicate extreme poverty.  The members also realize that the world is getting smaller and they wanted to help globally, not just locally.

AAYGC donated $3,500 to support this cause. Other members also contributed personally. Together, a $6,000 grant was donated to Nuru.
